FAQ

Why do I need to register?

Registration unlocks the full potential of the SwitchVid Desktop program! It will allow you to convert into ALL of its media types and gives you access to advanced bitrate and specification features of the converted stream

I registered and have either forgotten or not received my key yet

Occasionally, different spam detectors may think that your registration key e-mail is spam and automatically put it in your junk or spam e-mail box. Check those locations first for an e-mail from switchvid_info@switchvid.com that contains your registration key before e-mailing us requesting that it be resent.

Have our system resend your registration key

I forgot my Registration Key

Oops!! That's unfortunate!! Luckily, we keep all registration keys on file and can look up your key for you! Just send us a contact request from our contact page and we'll be happy to send that back out to you. Be sure that you give us the e-mail that you used for your registration otherwise we'll have no idea where to look.

What system requirements does SwitchVid need to run?

Currently, SwitchVid works on Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7. We are working to bring SwitchVid to Linux as well as Mac OS X very shortly, so if you've got one of these platforms, just sit tight because we're definitely working on it.
Here are some boring numbers and such:

  • Supported OS: Windows XP SP3, Vista SP2, 7
  • RAM: 512MB of RAM or more
  • HDD: 40MB of free space for installation
  • Internet connection: Yes
  • CPU: Anything that can run one of the operating systems above

I haven't registered yet, how hard is it? How much is it?

Registration is SUPER easy! Just fill in your name and e-mail address and then we'll redirect you to PayPal to complete the process. SwitchVid registration is only a small cost. Registration is totally optional, however, without registration the software will be limited.
After you've registered and payment has been processed, you'll need to click to return back to the registration page where you will receive your unique registration key. This key is linked to your e-mail address so (in case you lose it) we can get it back for you!

My conversion progress bar is stuck at 75% -- what do I do?

Sometimes things get a little wacky in the internet and data packets can get lost along the way. This can make for a difficult time in converting a corrupted file and on rare occasions, the software will get confused in the middle of a conversion. If this happens, you should try the video one more time to see if it was just a bump in the road. If it does happen again, however, you should find a different version of the video you want to convert. We can't guarantee that everyone and every service adheres to proper protocols
